Cultural & Clinical Practitioner (AOD Clinician)
Te āheinga - The opportunity:
Working within Te Pou Oranga o Whakatōhea at Te Whare Ora o Kōpūārau, our pre and post methamphetamine facility, the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician works to reduce methamphetamine related harm to individuals and their families. You will assist clients to develop pro-social behaviours, to prevent relapse and support the acquisition of knowledge, skills and motivation to initiate change and maintain long term quality of life.
Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:

Provide a clinical service to individuals and Whānau affected by methamphetamine.

Provide effective case management and delivery quality care to individuals and Whānau, using the assessment, planning, implementation case consult, review and evaluation processes.

Undertake comprehensive and accurate triage, assessment,
risk assessment of clients using appropriate Kaupapa MHA
tools.

Ensure Whānau are connected with the appropriate follow up interventions, supports and wrap around pathways.

Provide greater access to crisis support and services after hours from 1400 hours to 2100 hours.

Report back as required through our internal client database systems.
Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga Experience & Skills required:
-
Relevant qualifications and 5+ years’ experience in the following fields: Kaupapa Māori MHA, mental health services, alcohol & other drugs, government or NGO social services, child and/or health services, justice system, or whānau violence.

An understanding of advocacy and support, Whānau noho, Whānau hui, integrated approach, counselling/therapy, planned respite, medication monitoring, and review and health checks.

Competent in using client data base systems and Microsoft Office 365.

Holds a current New Zealand or relevant driver’s license.

Current registration to relevant professional body.
