Smokefree Practitioner - Contract expires end of June
Te āheinga - The opportunity:
Reporting to the Social and Health Group Manager, the Smokefree Practitioner is responsible for providing evidence-based support, smoking cessation assessment and treatment to smokers within the Toirāwhiti locality rōhe, enabling them to be smokefree.
This is a Fixed-Term Contract until 30th June 2025.
Ngā Kawenga me ngā Mahi – Duties & responsibilities:

Assist in the reduction in smoking numbers across the Toirāwhiti rōhe.

Conduct comprehensive assessment of clients and provide individualised smoking cessation plans.

Develop and facilitate groups utilising Tikanga, Te Reo and Matauranga Māori to support quit smoking attempts.

Raise awareness of the benefits of living smokefree by attending community events across the rōhe.

Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships - Whānau, Hapū, Iwi, Hāpainga Stop Smoking service and more.
Ngā wheako me ngā pūkenga - Experience & Skills required:

Stop Smoking Practitioner Certificate, Level 3 National Certificate in Health, Disability and Aged Support, or a willingness to work towards gaining this essential qualification.

Competent with using computer software, client data bases, and similar applications.

Attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

Excellent client services approach, with good communication, and interpersonal skills.

The ability to uphold a standard of excellence & demonstrate our values base when working with our whānau, hapū and iwi.

Strong understanding of Kaupapa Māori principles and cultural competency, with experience in a Kaupapa Māori Practice is advantageous.

Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Whakatōhea me ona tikanga.
